THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Education Minister V Sivankutty said that the Education Department has taken all steps to counter the education bandh called by KSU. In his Facebook post, the minister also requested the public to help the police arrange transportation facilities to bring the children to schools safely if anything happens to the vehicles in which the children are travelling.
'In the context of education bandh called by the KSU, arrangements have been made to provide all kinds of protection to all the students appearing for the examination. I am requesting the public to help the police in arranging vehicles to take the children to schools safely if anything happens to the vehicles in which the children are travelling. There should never be a situation where children are left waiting on the road for vehicles to reach the school. Police authorities should take special care to provide adequate security to schools which are examination centres,' the minister wrote on his Facebook page.
KSU called for an educational bandh today to protest against the police for brutally beating its leaders during its march to Pookode Veterinary University. The bandh has been called in educational institutions, including professional colleges.
Meanwhile, KSU State President Aloysius Xavier said that today's SSLC, Higher Secondary and University level examinations have been exempted from the strike.
