CET achieves outstanding results in B-Tech exam; 600 students get placement

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Students from the College of Engineering (CET), Thiruvananthapuram, showcased exceptional performance in APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University's B-Tech examination. CET bagged the first position among colleges in the state with a pass percentage of 88.36. The Computer Science Department has the highest pass percentage- 92 per cent. CET also secured the second position in the state for B Arch with 91.2 per cent.

36 students in the Computer Science Department got a CGPA above 9. CET also excelled in placements this past academic year. More than 600 students have received placements in 180 companies. Many students got placed in international companies, including those based in Oman and Dubai. This year stands out as several students got placed in core companies. Some people received an annual package of up to Rs 34.3 lakh. Most of the students got packages above 7 lakhs. Although IT service companies were hit by the recession, IT product companies fared better. Most of the companies offered internship opportunities to students. Several students got opportunities in companies like Tata Elxsi, UST, Cognizant, TCS etc.

The pass percentage of core branches such as Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering is higher in CET when compared to other colleges.
