Will donate crown with diamond worth Rs 10 lakh after winning polls, says Suresh Gopi

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Actor and BJP leader Suresh Gopi came forward reacting to the crown controversy. The crown presented was an offering (nercha) by his family and what right has other parties to audit it, asked the actor.

The actor said that he will present a crown of Rs 10 lakh after winning the Lok Sabha polls. He added that the crown will have a diamond in it. Suresh Gopi, the BJP candidate in Thrissur, started his electioneering with a road show in the district.

Suresh Gopi had the other day said offering the crown to Lourdes Church in Thrissur was part of his ritual and that mother would accept it. The devotees have no issue in me presenting the crown and who is preaching communalism, the actor asked. Hundreds of activists were there to receive the candidate at the railway station in the evening.

Suresh Gopi along with his family presented the gold crown to the church in January. His wife Radhika, daughters Bhagya and Bhavni accompanied the actor. The actor, who came to the church during the last perunnal, promised an offering of a gold crown. He gifted the crown before the marriage of his daughter Bhagya. BJP leaders had also accompanied him. The actor left the place praying after placing the crown on Mary’s head.
