The raid took place at the house of Johnson, who runs a travel agency in Paduppu, Kasaragod, Kerala. The money transactions of the travel agency were verified. Raids were carried out in the houses of Mushtaq Ahmed and Mubit of Ramanathapuram Tamilnadu, Hassan native Al Basan, Naveed in Mangaluru in Karnataka, Syed Khail in Bengaluru, Bijju in South Kannada, Mayur Chakrabarti in 24 Parganas in West Bengal, Navjot Singh in Gurdaspur in Punjab, Khardik Kumar in Mehsana in Gujarat and Karan Kumar in Ahmedabad. 25 mobile phones, six laptops, several documents and foreign currency notes were also seized.

The raid is part of the investigation in the case of the seizure of explosives and weapons from Bengaluru on October 25.

The seizure of arms was found to be linked to Thadiyantavida Nazeer planning attacks by luring fellow inmates into terrorism. A charge sheet was filed against five people in the case. The NIA had found that two persons had crossed into foreign countries and received money from abroad for terrorist activities.
