KOCHI: The Kerala Catholic Bishops' Council (KCBC) on Tuesday admitted to the reality of terrorism and ‘love traps’ which they said still exist in Kerala. The council also decided to go ahead with further awareness programs that include the screening of films that expose the dark reality of ‘love traps’ that happen behind the veneer of a harmonious society.

“Despite complaining about the rampant abuse happening under the guise of the Special Marriage Act, the government stayed idle and put no effort to allay the tension." KCBC Vigilance Commission secretary Fr. Michael Pulikkal also said that the church and the authorities would move ahead with their decision to give awareness to teenagers.

The explanation was made in the context of the Idukki Diocese screening the movie 'Kerala Story'.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in a presser on Tuesday criticized the movie as BJP’s propaganda.

“The film is filled with appalling lies about the state and is an attempt to defame our land. RSS people have successfully imbibed the notions of Hitler. If it was Jews in Germany, here in Kerala, it is Christians, Muslims and even communists who are victims of RSS torture. I don’t know where this thing happened as mentioned in the movie. People should not forget the genocide that took place in Manipur” said CM.

Meanwhile, Padmaja Venugopal, who joined the BJP in the recent past, aligned with the Church's decision to screen the movie and admitted that ‘love jihad’ exists in Kerala.
