Watch movies at just Rs 75; Kerala's own 'C SPACE' from March 7

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala's own OTT (over-the-top) platform 'C Space' will be launched on Thursday. Starting tomorrow, customers can download the C Space app through the Play Store and App Store. This is the first OTT platform launched by a state government in India.

The name and logo ‘C Space’ was already released back in May 2022. Kerala Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) is in charge of management. Director Shaji N. Karun, Chairman, KSFDC, said that the curators have selected 42 films in the first phase of C Space. It consists of 35 feature films, 6 documentaries and 1 short film. The films include award-winning ‘Nishiddho’ and ‘B 32 Muthal 44 Vare’ among others.

There is a 60-member curatorial committee including filmmakers Santhosh Sivan, Shyamaprasad, Sunny Joseph, Jeo Baby and writers O V Usha and Benyamin. Films that have been screened at international film festivals and won national and state awards will be screened live.

You can watch a feature film for Rs 75. Half of the revenue generated will go to the producer. C Space will promote film clubs in the city and colleges. A plan to set aside a certain amount for the welfare of filmmakers is also under consideration.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate C Space at Kairali Theater tomorrow at 9.30 am. Minister Saji Cherian will be the chairman. Ministers V Sivankutty, GR Anil, Antony Raju MLA, Mayor Arya Rajendran, KSFDC Chairman Shaji N Karun, MD KV Abdul Malik, Culture Department Secretary Mini Antony, Director N. Maya and others will participate.
