'Stop talking nonsense about India'; Jharkhand gangrape victim to Instagram followers

Just days after the horrific gang rape of a biker that shocked India, the victim, Brazil native Nanda Fernanda came on Instagram to plead with followers to not blame India for what happened to her.

After the news of the ghastly crime came out, netizens and politicians made it a tool to vilify the country and put India in a bad light in front of the world. In the wake of the upcoming elections, many accounts on Instagram and X pointed fingers at the inept work made by the BJP government at the centre, which they said accounted for the rise in such incidents.

Meanwhile, Fernanda asked her followers to stop talking nonsense about India.

“This can happen to anybody. Maybe your sister, mother or anyone. This can happen in any part of the world. This has already happened in Spain, America and Brazil. We have camped in 66 countries, and have passed through Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan where nothing hateful or dangerous happened. However, we got robbed in Spain, Barcelona. So please stop this absurd nonsense that it happened because we were in India” Fernanda said.

28-year-old Nanda Fernanada, a passionate biker from Brazil while camping in the Dumka district of Jharkhand was subjected to brutal gangrape by miscreants. The couple revealed their ordeal through Instagram where they appeared with bruises on their lips and faces. The issue slowly attracted national attention and was condemned largely.

On Wednesday, Fernanda took to Instagram to post a story saying that all the eight criminals involved have been arrested by the police, and heaped praises on the efficiency of the officials.
