Many who said Padmaja joined BJP because of ED have held talks with us: Surendran takes veiled dig at Cong leader

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP state president K Surendran said that many people who said that Padmaja Venugopal, daughter of former Chief Minister K Karunakaran, is joining the BJP out of fear of the ED, had previously discussed joining the BJP. Surendran further added that he is not saying more out of his dignity.

Congress leader Bindu Krishna had earlier alleged that Padmaja Venugopal is joining the BJP out of fear of ED and her husband Dr Venugopal was interrogated by the agency. Surendran's comment came as a reply to a media query regarding this.

"Some people say Congress was cheated by joining the BJP. How those who cheated Congress and went to CPM could say this?," Surendran asked. He added that Padmaja is joining the BJP without any conditions.

Surendran stated that people from all the states are joining the BJP as they are attracted by the development agenda of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Meanwhile, Bindu Krishna denied Surendran's allegation that she had held talks with the BJP. She told a media that she is a staunch Congresswoman and has never met anyone with such a need except for general talks with BJP leaders.
