THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Padmaja Venugopal on Friday came down heavily on the 'work at home' remark made against her by her brother and Congress leader K Muraleedharan. Speaking to the media in Thiruvananthapuram, Padmaja said that she would have slapped Muraleedharan if he was her younger brother.

"He (Muraleedharan) happened to be my elder brother. I would have slapped him if he was my younger brother. He knew about my health issues. He said that I've switched to BJP for votes. He can say anything as he himself returned to Congress after switching to other parties 3-4 times. I don't want to say anything more. After the Lok Sabha elections, more Congressmen will join the BJP. So many people have left Congress. Even my father had once left the party. I was staying away from the party for the last three years," Padmaja said.

"I know exactly about the leaders who worked to defeat me in the election. Although I had filed a complaint, no action was taken. I was unable to work even in my own constituency. I even thought of leaving Kerala. I once burst into tears while sitting in front of the KPCC president. Some leaders insulted even K Karunakaran Although I told the leadership about this, they took it lightly. I will file a case against Rahul Mamkootathil who insulted my mother. Rahul said that I am not K Karunakaran's daughter. He became a leader by participating in television shows. I know the story about how he remained in jail. Don't provoke me to reveal it," she said.

"Joining the BJP is like shifting to a new house. KG Marar used to visit my father every month. I'm sure that Suresh Gopi would win in Thrissur this time," Padmaja added.
