NEW DELHI: Opposition Leader VD Satheesan said that the CPM has a role in Padmaja Venugopal joining the BJP. He alleged that a retired IPS officer, who has close links with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, was behind this. Satheesan said that details in this regard will come out soon.

"CPM leaders were most happy when Padmaja joined the BJP. This is because they want to weaken the Congress. However, I would like to tell the CM and other CPM leaders that they are wrong. You will get an answer to this in the coming days. The people of Kerala will soon understand who is fighting against the Sangh Parivar and who has made peace with the Sangh Parivar," Satheesan said.

Meanwhile, VD Satheesan said that no changes are likely to be made to the list of Congress' Lok Sabha candidates.

"The candidates named by the party will contest in 16 constituencies. Only certain procedures are left ahead of the declaration of candidates. The candidates will be announced today," he said.
