Daughter has supernatural powers; will lose everything if becomes close to natives or relatives, Nithish' brain behind brutal murders

KATTAPPANA: Taking advantage of the superstitions of Vijayan, who was murdered, and his family members, Nithish, the main accused in the Kattappana double murder case, entered the house and won their trust. The family, who believed his words completely, became his puppets. The police hint that no one in the family was ready to speak even after the two including a newborn were brutally murdered. Nithish's knowledge about pujas and other things was the reason for their trust in him. A couple of things happened as what he said and their belief doubled. This is the reason why Vijayan conspired to kill Nithish' child with his daughter.

Nithish came home for the first time saying that he will solve the defect seen in one of the hands of Vijayan’s daughter and mother of the baby murdered. He soon became the confidant of the family. There was a situation that nothing will happen in the house beyond what Nitish says. No one opposed him. Nithish even told how the members of the family should live. Nithish's main direction was to keep away from family and locals. He found a reason for it. He made believe that Vijayan's daughter has supernatural powers and that if she interacts more with people, it will weaken. It was his words that led the family to sell their house and land they lived in for a huge amount and shift to a rented house. There is no clarity on what they did with the money that got. Nithish told police that they spent the whole money.

Whenever relatives tried to contact the family, Nithish took special care to keep them away. The reason was the fear that his lies would be exposed. In between, a missing complaint of Vijayan’s family was filed. Only after a relative found Vijayan in Kattappana, it was clear the family is alive.

The information of the double murder surfaced when Nithish alias Rajesh (31) of Kanchiyar Puthenpurackal and Vishnu of Kakkattukada Nellanikkal were arrested in a theft case. Vishnu's father Vijayan and his newborn niece were killed and buried on two occasions. Nithish confessed to the crime during a detailed interrogation led by district police chief Vishnu Pradeep after taken into custody.
