Modi govt gearing up to make a big announcement; decision to be made before election notification?

NEW DELHI: The Modi government is about to make a big decision ahead of the announcement of the date for the Lok Sabha elections. It is reported that the Centre may announce the decision before the election notification is issued. It is rumoured that petrol and diesel prices will be reduced in the country ahead of the elections. Cooking gas prices were reduced in the country last week.

The BJP assesses that lowering the prices of petrol and diesel will reflect in the elections. The price of 1 litre of petrol is above Rs 100. The price of essential goods has also increased because of the high price of petrol and diesel. Lowering petrol prices will be a solution to the price hike. The government is planning to make the announcement by keeping this in mind.

According to sources, the wide acceptance received for the move to reduce cooking gas prices has also prompted the Centre to reduce the fuel prices. The BJP leadership believes that the decision will help to prevent the opposition parties from discussing the matter of fuel prices in the country to some extent during the election campaign.

The Prime Minister announced the decision to reduce cooking gas prices in the country on International Women's Day on March 8. In a note shared on X, the Prime Minister wrote that the decision was a Women's Day gift from the government.

'Our government has decided to reduce the LPG cylinder price by Rs.100 today on Women's Day. This will significantly ease the financial burden of millions of families across the country and will especially benefit our Nari Shakti,' the Prime Minister wrote.
