KANNUR: KPCC president K Sudhakaran blamed SFI for the suicide of Shaji, who was accused of manipulating judgment in the recently ended University youth festival.

“SFI intervened decisively to overturn the result of the event. They harboured enmity with Shaji after he refused to kowtow before their demands to announce the result as per SFI’s command. Only for that, a fake case was made and Shaji was arrested. Unable to bear the humiliation, Shaji ended his life. This is not suicide but is a murder. “K Sudhakaran’s comments came while visiting the bereaved family of Shaji. The KPCC president also demanded a thorough investigation into the case.

At the same time, the details of the FIR against Shaji were made available to the media. It was SFI district president and program committee convener Nandan who filed the complaint against the judge. In the FIR it states that the judging panel was wheedled by certain teachers and faculties to manipulate judgment favouring some side. Meanwhile, dance trainers Jomet Michael and Suraj sought anticipatory bail in the case.

In the bail plea filed, both the judges alleged political pressure to have resulted in the complaint getting filed. The petition also called the complaint fabricated and blamed such incidents for belittling the talent of deserving students.
