'I was always uncomfortable with my sexuality, I was shaking with fear then', reveals Samantha

South Indian actress Samantha has revealed that she was always uncomfortable with her sexuality. The actress made this revelation while speaking at the India Today Conclave. She opened up about being stereotyped in the hit movies 'Family Man' and 'Pushpa'. Samantha also expressed the challenge she faced while dancing in the popular item song 'O Andava' from the Allu Arjun starrer blockbuster 'Pushpa'.

‘The decision to act in ‘Family Man 2’ was similar to the decision to do 'O Andava'. One of the significant benefits of not being surrounded by too many people is that you don't have other people's opinions imposed on you. The flip side of this is that if I make mistakes, I have to learn from them. As an actress, I chose to do 'O Andava' to explore various roles. I was always uncomfortable with my sexuality. I lacked confidence. There were always thoughts that I'm not good enough, I'm not pretty, I don't look like other girls.

'O Andava' posed a significant challenge for me. By the time I took the first shot, I was shaking with fear. I didn't think I was good enough to exude sexiness. But now, I have grown a lot as an actor and as a person. I am prepared to face the most difficult situations and push through them,’ said Samantha.

The actress announced that she took a break from films in 2022. Samantha revealed that she was suffering from myositis a year ago. She also shared details of her illness. Last week, Samantha announced that she has recovered from the disease. It is reported that Samantha is gearing up to return to the screen. She will next appear in the series 'Citadel: India' directed by Raj and DK. Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan will star opposite her in the series.
