Drum master slaps and scratches eight-year-old student for reducing temperature of AC, arrested

KOCHI: Angered by his student turning down the temperature of the AC, a dram master slapped and scratched him on his, thereby injuring him. The unfortunate incident happened to an eight-year-old boy from Vyttila's Ponnurunni. Police have arrested Gopu (31), of Koothappilly House and owner of Still Rock Drums Academy in Ponnurunni, in connection with the incident on Friday evening.

According to the police, the boy has been learning drums under Gopu for two years. On the request of his friend who was in the class on the day of the incident, the child reduced the AC temperature from 24 to 16. On hearing this, Gopu slapped and scratched the face of the eight-year-old in front of the other children. The injured child was admitted to the Indira Gandhi Hospital in Kadavanthra. After this, his mother lodged a complaint at the police station. The police registered the complaint and took the child's statement at the hospital. Gopu was arrested by the Juvenile Justice Department. He was produced in court and remanded. The child was discharged from the hospital yesterday.

Gopu's statement is that he didn't scratch the child but it happened after he slapped him.
