Gives lift on bike, drowns her after pushing into canal, Anu killed brutally by Malappuram native

KOZHIKODE: The police said Anu (26) alias Ambika, daughter of Vasu of Valoor in Nochad Gram Panchayat, was killed brutally. After giving her a lift on the bike, he pushed her into the canal and drowned her. After confirming death, the accused escaped after stealing her gold.

The accused was taken into custody from his house in Malappuram yesterday morning. The police had earlier concluded that Anu's death was a murder. The accused was arrested within a few days during an investigation conducted. Anu who left home with her husband, went missing on Monday morning. After an investigation by her husband and relatives, the body of Anu was found lying in a canal at around 9 am on Tuesday morning. Her body was found half naked. Her ornaments were found missing. The body was found one kilometre away from her house. The police suspected murder after it was confirmed that she had not drowned in the canal with water barely up to her knees.

The investigation proceeded around the red bike that was seen in the area. The footage of the Malappuram native was captured on the nearby CCTV. He was then taken into custody and is being grilled.
