BENGALURU: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and ex-Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda is reportedly contemplating quitting the BJP. It is suggested that his decision stems from being denied a seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Sadananda Gowda from Dakshina Kannada, had been a Lok Sabha member from the Bengaluru North constituency since 2014. There are indications that he might run as a Congress candidate in Mysuru.
Karnataka PCC President and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar is currently engaging in discussions with Sadananda Gowda. The sitting MP from Bengaluru North was denied the candidacy for the same seat in the Lok Sabha elections, which is believed to be a key factor driving his potential departure from the BJP.
Union Minister of State, Shobha Karandlaje, has been declared as the BJP's candidate for Bengaluru North. Hailing from the Vokkaliga community, Gowda served as the Railway Minister during the initial years of the first Narendra Modi government.
