14-year-old girl ends life after strip-searched in school for theft

BENGALURU: A 14-year-old girl ended her life two days after she was strip- searched in school. The incident happened at the government school in Bagalkot, north Karnataka. A teacher suspected four girls of stealing Rs 2000 from her. The teacher had publicly strip-searched the four in the name of theft. The girl committed suicide on Saturday.

The teacher examined four tenth class students and an eighth-class student. They were later taken to a temple nearby to prove their innocence. The girl’s elder sister studying in the same school informed her parents about what happened. Her parents said that she was very upset after the incident. A case has been registered against the teacher identified as Jayashree.
