67-year-old man commits suicide after killing daughter-in-law in Paravur

KOCHI: A 67-year-old man committed suicide after slitting his daughter-in-law’s throat. The incident happened following a family dispute at 11 am Thursday morning. Sebastian of Chendamangalam in North Paravur committed suicide by hanging after killing his son’s wife Shanu (34).

Shanu’s husband Sinoj said there were regular fights between the two. Sinoj said the fight escalated over food six months ago and after this Shanu did not talk to his father. Sinoj is a contract employee in FACT. Sinoj said that he had called his wife after going for work in the morning and that she did not mention anything at that time.

Sinoj's brother is staying at Kottapuram in Kodungallur after not being able to adjust with his father. Their mother was at her brother's house two days ago. Sebastian attacked Shanu after the couple’s twins Ima and Ivan studying in LKG went to school. He later hanged himself.

The bodies of the two are kept in Paravur Taluk Hospital. Post-mortem will be conducted at Kalamassery Medical College after completing the inquest proceedings.
