MAHE: Kalamandalam Sathyabhama's derogatory remarks towards RLV Ramakrishnan cannot be accepted, said dancer Methil Devika. Her remarks were discriminatory and wrong, said Methil Devika while talking to the media in Mahe.
She said
‘People in the dance industry have been discussing on caste, colour, body to gender discrimination. We are the ones who rose from it. These are all the things that came out several decades ago. Yet some are still standing there. What to do? These are all bad. Those who perform Mohiniyattam should be Mohini and not Mohanan. There is nothing to argue about this. Who is Mohini?'
'It is the problem of her mind. I don't think a normal thinking person would say such a thing. Not all teachers in Kalamandalam are like this. Why are such people given different charges? Those giving them charges should be blamed. They should decide whether they are qualified to sit in that post.'
Satyabhama’s remarks
‘People playing Mohiniyattam should always be Mohini. She said that he looked like a crow. It is an art form where one has to keep the legs wide apart. It looks vulgar when men perform it. According to me men who performs Mohiniyattam should be good looking. Aren't there some good-looking guys? Even the mother who gave birth to him cannot bear his complexion.
Meantime, RLV Ramakrishnan informed that legal action will be taken against Satyabhama's remarks. Ramakrishnan responded through social media that it is a situation where an artiste from a scheduled caste cannot stick on in this field due to such people. He also clarified that people with rotten minds like this will be brought before the law.
