Death of two-and-a-half-year-old girl caused by head and chest injuries; post-mortem report out

MALAPPURAM: Post mortem report has revealed that two-and-a-half-year-old Fatima Nasreen of Kalikavu died due to beating. The preliminary conclusion of the post-mortem was that the child suffered head and chest injuries which led to her death. The post-mortem report stated that there was a blood clot in the head and a fractured rib. Based on this, the police will conduct a detailed investigation. The police had registered a case of unnatural death in the demise of the two-and-a-half-year-old girl and arrested her father Muhammad Faiz.

His wife and relatives lodged a police complaint against him. Mohammad Faiz took the child to the hospital yesterday evening saying that food was stuck in her throat. The baby's body had scars from being beaten. Following this, the authorities of the private hospital in Vandoor informed the police

The mother and relatives had alleged that the father threw the child on the bed. Relatives also said that the child had died before being taken to the hospital.
