THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: B C Jojo, former executive editor of Kerala Kaumudi, has passed away. He was 66. He died Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment at KIMS Hospital. It was B C Jojo who disclosed the report on palm oil corruption that led to K Karunakaran's resignation from the post of chief minister. He was the first to report that the Mullaperiyar Agreement has no legal validity. Following the publication of this report, the assembly entrusted an ad hoc committee. The findings of the committee upheld the report. His book ‘Mullapperiyarilekke Veendum’ was very notable.
Jojo was born in 1958 to D Balachandran and P Leelavathy in Kollam. His education was at Mayyanad High School, Kollam Sree Narayana College, Thiruvananthapuram University College and Indian Institute of Mass Communication. After working in publications like Main Stream and Caravan, he joined Kerala Kaumudi in 1985. He had served as the executive editor from 2003 to 2012. He later became the managing director of Winsoft Digital Media Private Ltd and CEO of India Post Live.
He leaves behind his wife T K Sushama (Varkala SN College, former head of Hindi department, and children J S Deepu (senior associate, Wadia Gandhi advocates and solicitors, Mumbai) and Dr J S Sumi (assistant professor, Gokulam Medical College, Venjaramoodu. Son-in-law Dr Suri Rajan Palakkal (Neyyar Medicity), Aneesha Kumar (principal associate, DSK advocates and solicitors, Mumbai.
