India-Pakistan same-sex couple Anjali Chakra and Sufi Malik have ended their five-year relationship. It was Anjali who revealed the news of their break-up through her Instagram page.
The news comes as a shock to many as the couple were supposed to get married in a few weeks. In her Instagram post, Anjali wrote that they have decided to part ways because of an "infidelity committed by Sufi".
'This may come as a shock, but our journey is now shifting. We have decided to call off our wedding and end our relationship due to infidelity committed by Sufi,' Anjali wrote on her Instagram page.
Sufi too issued a note regarding the decision to call off the wedding.
'There has been a major turn of events in my relationship with Anjali. I made an unrecognizable mistake of betrayal by cheating on her a few weeks before our wedding. I've hurt her tremendously, beyond my own understanding. I'm owning up to my mistake and will continue to do so,' Sufi wrote.
Everyone initially believed that the Instagram post was a prank. However, Anjali stated that it wasn't a prank and that she and Sufi had indeed decided to part ways. The two have been living in New York. In 2019, they went viral on social media through a photo shoot.
