NEW DELHI: During the hearing on Thursday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal told the court himself that ED's aim is only to destroy the Aam Aadmi Party. He also asked where is the money if there was a corruption of 100 crores in the liquor policy case.
“This case has been going on for the past two years…..I have been arrested and till now there has been no convictions or allegations against me……Till now there has been 31000 pages submitted before the court and various statements have been recorded and my name is in 4 statements," Kejriwal asked.
He added that the liquor policy was implemented after obtaining all the approvals and there were contradictions in the testimonies.
Meanwhile, the ED asked why Kejriwal had a lawyer if he was to defend himself. "A chief minister is not above the law. He is guilty of an offence, there is no different law for a chief minister, he is an ordinary man," the ED told the court.
The central agency also sought for one more week's custody of Kejriwal.
At the same time, the Delhi High Court dismissed the plea seeking Kejriwal's removal from the post of Chief Minister. The court rejected the plea of Surjit Singh Yadav, a native of Delhi, stating that there is no need to interfere at present.
