NEW DELHI: After the Congress, the CPI, the party in the opposition INDIA bloc, has been issued a notice by the Income Tax Department to pay back 'dues' of Rs 11 crore rupees.
According to the notice, Rs 11 crores "dues" to be paid to the I-T department include penalties and interest due to authorities for "discrepancies" in the use of an old PAN card by the party. A senior CPI leader responded to a news agency that the party has sought legal help in this regard.
Earlier, the Income Tax Department had issued a notice to the Congress to pay Rs 1700 crores, including penalty and interest.
