KASARGOD: The judgement copy issued by the Kasaragod District Principal Sessions Court, acquitting three RSS workers in the murder of Mohammad Riyas Moulavi, has come out. As per the judgement copy, there were serious lapses on the part of the investigation team and the prosecution. The court enumerated the lapses on the part of the investigation team and the prosecution. It stated that the prosecution completely failed to prove the reasons that led to the murder. The court also pointed out that the investigation team conducted the probe unilaterally in a substandard manner and did not examine the SIM card and memory card of the mobile phones recovered from Riyas Moulavi's room.

The prosecution had argued that the hatred of the accused towards the Muslim community led to the murder. However, the prosecution completely failed to prove this, the court said. The court also said that the prosecution failed to produce evidence to prove that the accused had links with the RSS.

Earlier today, the court had acquitted three RSS workers in the murder of Mohammad Riyas Moulavi, a teacher in the Pazhaya Churi Madrasa in Kasaragod. RSS workers Ajeesh, Nitin Kumar and Akhilesh were freed by the court after seven years of impasse in the case.
