Petrol pumps will be emptied and closed, drones will be banned; meeting held under chairmanship of District Collector to assess preparations for Thrissur Pooram

THRISSUR: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of District Collector VR Krishna Teja to assess the preparations for Thrissur Pooram. The meeting assessed the security arrangements of the Thrissur Pooram. Security and law and order will be ensured. Fireworks should be carried out strictly following the instructions of PESO. A barricade should be constructed at a distance of 100 meters from the fireline to keep spectators safe. Firework items such as 'gundu', 'amittu' 'kuzhiminnal' and firecrackers with prohibited chemicals should not be used. The meeting also decided to appoint people with experience among those holding licenses for carrying out fireworks.

An adequate police force will be deployed even from neighbouring districts to maintain law and order. Arrangements will be made to regulate traffic on the days of Pooram. The use of helicams/ drones will be banned in the area where the Pooram will take place. Police Control Room and Mini Police Facilitation Aid will be set up at different parts of the round. The nests of vermins in the 'Pooraparambu' should be found and removed. District Animal Husbandry Department and Veterinary Department are in charge of this. Instructions were given to prepare a proper elephant management plan and form an elephant squad. Directions were given to the Thrissur Corporation and Cochin Devaswom Board to cut and remove the trees that pose a threat to people.

The District Supply Officer has been instructed to empty and close the petrol pumps in the region on the day of Pooram. City Police Commissioner Ankit Asokan, Sub-Collector Mohammad Shafiq, Assistant. Collector Karthik Panigrahi, Cochin Devaswom Board President MK Sudarshan, Paramekkavu, Thiruvambady Devaswom officials and heads of various departments were present at the meeting held at the Collectorate Executive Conference Hall.
