Adieu Youtube? Meta set to introduce sassy video-streaming platform

It is no secret that YouTube is the most used video streaming platform in the world. Until the invention of TikTok, YouTube thrived in streaming videos that came in landscape mode. However, TikTok ploughed the unexplored domain of vertical video streaming, and needless to say, it thrived. TikTok was one of the most downloaded applications in India until the government decided to ban all Chinese phone apps; in retaliation to the army skirmish in May 2020 near Pangong Lake in Ladakh.

Since then the void was replaced by YouTube Shots and Instagram Reels that are still going unrivalled. With high ambitions to break YouTube’s monopoly over video streaming, Meta is set to launch a new app that only focuses on vertical videos.

According to available reports, the app that Meta is set to launch will be packed with a lot of features and innovation. All types of videos can be watched in the new app. The new app will be launched to accommodate videos ranging from one-minute videos to longer videos that will come in vertical format.

In the first phase of operation, the app will be introduced in only US and Canada. TikTok still remains a vibe in many countries, but Meta is set to exploit markets including the US where the Chinese app is on the brink of getting banned.

If the vertical video format tastes success, Meta will go ahead with including the landscape model, thus aggravating the battle with YouTube to become the undisputed in the video streaming domain.
