KOCHI: The Kerala High Court asked the Center to immediately issue a notification for the CBI to take over the case in connection with the death of Siddharth, a student of Pookode Veterinary University. The court in the interim order said immediate steps should be taken for this. A delay will affect the case. The court also asked the government why the delay in handing over the documents to the CBI. The government replied to the court that they have handed over all the documents related to the case on March 23rd itself.
Siddharth's father T Jayaprakash had filed a plea in the high court demanding an investigation by the CBI immediately. The plea said his son’s classmates and senior students brutally beat him to death and then hung his body. Initially thought it was a suicide, but three of his classmates secretly informed that he was beaten to death. The post-mortem report also clarified that he was attacked without giving food and water for three days.
The plea said leaders of the ruling party are colluding to save the accused and have no faith in the present investigation. Based on the complaint to the chief minister, the investigation was left to the CBI on March 9 and the chief secretary had issued an order on it. The plea said the delay in not handing over the documents is deliberate.
