THRISSUR: Actor and Thrissur Lok Sabha Constituency NDA candidate Suresh Gopi questioned why a case of vehicle registration and tax evasion in Puducherry should affect the elections. He asserted to continue the fight, stating, "Isn't it for the court to decide? I will pursue this vigorously. Why should this affect the election. If so, will the Chief Minister be able to allow his people to contest in Kerala? Their aim is to exploit this during the election season. But all cases are similar. Wasn't there also a case related to the Karuvannur incident? That's another instance. I shouldn't comment further. I have much to say, but I must refrain. It's up to the court to decide; they will have the final say." Suresh Gopi clarified.
The case revolves around allegations of tax evasion by registering vehicles with fake addresses. His plea to quash the FIR was recently rejected by the Ernakulam ACJM Court. It was alleged that two cars were registered in Puducherry, evading taxes amounting to Rs 30 lakh. Suresh Gopi testified to the Crime Branch that the cars were registered at a farm address in Puducherry, but investigations revealed no such property exists at that location.
