Moderate rain with high waves; IMD issues warning to Kerala's coastal areas

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian meteorological department has predicted light rainfall in nine districts of Kerala on Saturday. Districts including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki districts are more likely to receive rainfall today while districts including Ernakulam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod will get rainfall on April 10th.

At the same time, the Meteorological Department has predicted rain in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Ernakulam on Sunday while it was also predicted that all districts except Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Wayanad will get strong rainfall on April 8th.

A high wave warning has also been issued on the Kerala coast. Huge waves are expected on Saturday night in the coastal regions adjoining Kerala.

A warning has been issued to fishermen tribes while tourists are advised to remain on shore and not venture into the sea during such turbulent times.
