Family of three en route to temple killed in collision with taurus lorry

accident

AMBALAPPUZHA: A tragic incident befell a family as they were on their way to visit the Ambalapuzha Srikrishna Swamy Temple. Sudev (43), his wife Vineetha (36) and their only son Adhi S. Dev (12) lost their lives when the motorcycle they were riding collided with a bicycle, causing them to lose control and fall under a taurus lorry. They hailed from Purakkad Panchayat 13th Ward, Punthala, Anandeswaram, Kalathilparambu veedu.

The accident occurred near Purakkad SNM HSS on the national highway around 6 o'clock yesterday morning. Sudev and his family were en route to the temple when their motorcycle collided with a bicycle, causing them to overturn onto the road. A Taurus lorry traveling in the opposite direction tragically ran over Sudev and Vineetha, who had fallen onto the road.

The lorry was en route from Bengaluru to Kayamkulam, carrying a pipe. Sudev succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Adhi suffered a fatal head injury and passed away after being rushed to the Medical College Hospital. Vineetha, critically injured, was initially admitted to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital and later transferred to a private hospital in Thiruvalla, where she succumbed to her injuries during the night.

Prakashan (56), a fish vendor traveling on a bicycle from Punnapra Puthuval house, was struck by Sudev's motorcycle as he swerved to avoid hitting a pedestrian. Both Prakashan and the pedestrian, Maniyan (80), sustained injuries and were admitted to Alappuzha Medical College Hospital.

Sudev worked as a temporary employee and painter at Alappuzha Medical College Hospital. Adhi S. Dev, a student of Punnapra Jyothi Niketan School, had recently completed his 6th-grade examinations. Following post-mortem examinations, the bodies of Sudev and Adhi have been placed in the medical college hospital mortuary. Vineetha's post-mortem will be conducted today.

This tragic incident follows another recent car accident in the area, claiming the lives of two individuals from Thottapally. Local residents attribute the rise in road accidents to the presence of metal debris and potholes along both sides of the national highway due to ongoing construction.
