19-year-old arrested for assaulting fuel pump staff over delay in refuelling

KOCHI: An employee of the IOC pump in Thevara's Mattamman was hit with an iron rod during a dispute over delay in filling fuel. Ernakulam South Police arrested Abhilash (Ambadi-19), a native of Thevara's Konthuruthi, who had committed the violence. The arrest was made on the complaint of the pump manager in the incident that took place on Saturday evening.

In the morning Ambadi and two friends reached the pump and it refilling time there. The employee told Ambadi that they will have to wait for a few minutes. Angered by this, Ambadi slapped the employee on his face. Then his friends took him from the pump.

The accused reached the pump at 4 pm and hit the employee with an iron pipe he was carrying. The employee told the police that he was hit several times but was not injured as he managed to move away. After the incident, the pump manager came to the station and lodge a complaint. The police identified the accused in the CCTV footage and arrested him in the night.
