Two youths die after being hit by train in Kottayam, incident on their way home after temple festival

KOTTAYAM: Two youths died after being hit by a train in Velloor in Kottayam. The deceased have been identified as Vaishnav Mohanan (21) of Moothedath in Velloor and Jishnu Venugopal (21) of Moothedath in Kottappuram in Edaykattuvayal. Both were BBA students of Kottayam Mangalam College.

The accident took place at Velloor's Shrankuzhi area around 3 am today. As per reports, the accident occurred while the duo was on their way back from the Attuvela Ulsavam at the Ilamkavu Temple in Vadayar, when they switched to the adjacent track they saw a train coming and were hit by another train from behind. Velloor Police and Railway Police have reached the spot and started investigation.

A railway employee died after being hit by a train at Kottayam's Neelimangalam a few days ago. The accident happened while the track was being repaired. Viju Mathew (48) from Vaduthala in Kottayam's Nattassery died after being hit by Kayamkulam-Ernakulam MEMU train near Kumaranallur Thrikkayil Colony.
