NEW DELHI: As a further blow to the AAP, Delhi Minister Raaj Kumar Anand has resigned from his minister post. He has also resigned from the party. Raaj Kumar Anand's resignation was after alleging corruption in the party. Raaj Kumar is the Labor, Social Welfare and Backward Development Minister of Delhi.

"I was motivated to join this party because of the message that there will be a strong fight against corruption. However, today this party itself has become the main centre of corruption. That's why I decided to leave. Aam Aadmi Party does not have a single MLA or councillor from the Dalit community. Dalits are not represented in any responsible posts. I am a follower of Ambedkar's principles." -Raaj Kumar Anand responded.

Raaj Kumar is the MLA from Patel Nagar. He is the first minister to resign from the Aam Aadmi Party.

Last day, the Delhi High Court had upheld the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the trial court proceedings in which he was released in ED custody. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma dismissed Kejriwal's petition against both the measures. Kejriwal is still in jail because of this.

The High Court observed that the ED had collected evidence of Kejriwal's role in the bribery case. There are statements of approvers and hawala dealers.

Five Reasons for Dismissal of Petition

  • There is evidence of Kejriwal's conspiracy. He was complicit in the use and concealment of bribes. Liaison in the formulation of liquor policy and demand of bribes both personally and as party national convener.
  • The bribe was used in the Goa elections. It is said that Kejriwal paid for the elections.
  • Kejriwal had questioned the credibility of the approver's statement. The statement was recorded by the court. Doubting it is tantamount to questioning the credibility of the court and the judge. The law relating to approvers has been in place for over 100 years.
  • Kejriwal had alleged that the approver Aurobindo Pharma owner Sarath Chandra Reddy had given crores to the BJP through election bonds. Who bought the bond is not a matter for the court.
  • He was arrested in a black money case. Actions are based on the law, not based on election time.
