Technical University VC appointment: Govt to form search committee; decision after ignoring governor

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has decided to form a search committee for the appointment of the vice-chancellor of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University. The government has ordered the formation of a search committee by completely ignoring the university chancellor, Governor Arif Muhammad Khan.

The order was in accordance with the provisions of the Bill sent by the Governor to the President which the President did not give his assent to. The amendment was to empower the government to appoint a vice-chancellor overriding the chancellor. The government has decided to include university and UGC higher education council representatives in the search committee

Currently, the additional charge of the Technical University is given to the Digital University Vice Chancellor.
