PALAKKAD: A seven-year-old boy was attacked by a pack of stray dogs. The incident happened at Thirumittakode in Palakkad. When he tried to run away, the dogs jumped on him and knocked him down. The dogs’ bit him in many parts of his body. The child undergoing treatment is out of danger. The incident happened the other day. The boy, a second-class student, was attacked when he was going to the mosque.
The dogs attacked the boy near the library. The child then fell on the road and sustained serious injuries on his body. The child, who was unconscious, was taken to Thrissur Medical College by his family and the locals. The child will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow.
Stray dog menace is on the rise in the state. Around 30 chickens of farmer V S Daniel were bitten to death by dogs at Anandapally in Adoor. Ducks and goats in nearby areas were also attacked by dogs. Dogs bit and killed more than 10 ducks belonging to farmer Manu George in Puthenpura. There are also farmers in the place who had lost their goats. It is alleged that no action was taken despite many complaints to the local self-governing bodies.
