KOCHI: The High Court has issued strict instructions regarding the participation of elephants in Thrissur Pooram. It is advised to submit a list of all elephants along with their fitness certificates. A court-appointed amicus curiae will examine the elephants, and those with health issues will not be permitted to join the Pooram festivities. On the 17th, the court will decide whether Techikottukavu Ramachandran can participate in Thrissur Pooram.
Thrissur Pooram begins today, with the Kodiyettam (flag hoisting) ceremonies taking place at Paramekkavu and Tiruvambadi temples, which are central to the event, along with eight other participating temples known as component purams.
Tiruvambadi

At 3:30 PM, the Poora Kodi will be hoisted at Naduvilal and Naikkanal, concluding the procession at the Srimoolasthanam of Vadakkunnatha Temple. The procession will then proceed to the western Chira for Aarat before returning.

Following this, the flag will be hoisted at Palamara and Manikandanal in the temple complex. After the flag hoisting, the procession will commence, proceeding to Vadakkunnathan and culminating with singing at Chandrapushkarni.
