Car accident in Wayanad; 12-year-old girl who was undergoing treatment dies of serious injuries

TIRURANGADI: Car went out of control and fell down the hill at Kavumannam Channel Myladumkunnu during the excursion in Wayanad. One of the injured children died. This brings the total number of deaths to two. The girl who died is Philsa (12), daughter of Jasir who is the younger brother of Gulzar (44), a native of Tirurangadi Chanthapadi and an Arabic teacher in Kollapuram Govt. HSS, who died yesterday. Five people, including children, were seriously injured in the accident.

Gulzar was driving the car. It is concluded that he may have fallen asleep. After performing Umrah, Gulzar returned home on the night of the Eid al-Fitr. He left for Wayanad in two cars with his family yesterday morning. Gulzar's other child was in the second vehicle.

Gulzar's children Naseem Muhammad (17), Lahin Hamza (3), Laifa Maryam (7), Gulzar's sister Nadira's daughter Filda (12), and Gulzar's wife Jaseela were injured. The accident happened around 1 pm on Saturday. The injured were admitted to Kozhikode Medical College and Wayanad Private Medical College. All suffered head injuries.

The deceased Gulzar (44) was the son of Mohammad and Aleema. He was a teacher at the government school in Kolappuram. He served as an Islahi lecturer, Thirurangadi Constituency Joint Secretary of KNM Markazudawa, State Dawah Committee member, Kerala Jamiatul Ulama member, Quran Research Foundation director, CIER trainer, Tirurangadi Tharammal Juma Masjid khateeb, Quran Learning School instructor, Thirurangadi Crayons Preschool and Al Furkhan madrass chairman. Siblings: Jasir, Shameel, Nawaz, Rubina and Nadeera.
