No summer vacation classes: Commission for Protection of Child Rights

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Commission for Protection of Child Rights has directed schools to ensure compliance with the order banning summer vacation classes. Commission member F Wilson directed the Director of General Education to strictly enforce the ban on holding classes in KER-applied schools in the state. The order is applicable to primary, high school, higher secondary and vocational higher secondary sector.

The High Court ordered that class timings in CBSE and ICSE schools in the state should be adjusted from 7:30 am to 10:30 am during summer vacations. The commission directed the CBSE Thiruvananthapuram Regional Officer and the ICSE Chairman to check whether there was any violation of the law. The order was based on the complaints received by the commission that classes are being held during the mid-summer vacation in government, aided and unaided schools, CBSE and ICSE schools. Action taken report should be made available within 15 days.
