NEW DELHI: Patanjali founders Yoga Guru Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishna appeared in the Supreme Court on Tuesday in the defamation case against Patanjali Ayurveda. During the last hearing, the Supreme Court warned the Uttarakhand authorities about ‘ripping them apart’ for not taking due action on the misleading advertisements issued by Baba Ramdev's Patanjali Ayurveda.

The case was heard by a bench consisting of Justices Hima Kohli and Ahsanuddin Amanullah. The court first appreciated both Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishna for their contribution towards Yoga but later switched plates and lambasted them for disparaging other treatment methods to put Ayurveda in a good light.

Ramdev and Acharya Balakrishna informed the court that they are ready to tender a public apology. However, the court pointed out that it had not decided whether to grant a pardon or not and that the instructions were violated three times. The court adjourned the hearing of the case to April 23.

After coming out of the court, Baba Ramdev said that he had complete faith in the law of the country. Earlier, the Indian Medical Association filed a complaint against Patanjali for mocking health branches including allopathy and lionizing the treatment modes involved in Ayurveda.
