'Thiruthalvaadi' is a superhit Malayalam film directed by Viji Thampi, released in 1992. The film, written by Kaloor Dennis, starred Jagadeesh and Siddique. Urvashi and Sivaranjini were the heroines of the film. Director Viji Thampi recently talked about his experience working on the movie.

Viji Thampi's words

"That was a time when Jagadeesh acted as a hero in several films. However, most of those films did not do financially well at the box office. Jagadeesh's market quickly went down. Thiruthalvaadi's' release came at a time when the situation was so bad that people will start booing on seeing Jagadeesh on screen. Writer Kaloor Dennis was also there to watch the preview of the film," Viji Thampi said.

"Jageesh's introduction scene was shot by giving him a huge buildup. It was a scene that completely changed Jagadeesh's image at that time. However, after seeing the preview, Dennichan asked to remove that scene from the film. He told me that the audience will boo if that scene is played in the theatre. However, I decided to take the risk by including that scene in the film. When the film was released in theatres, that particular scene earned Jagadeesh a standing ovation from the audience. 'Thiruthalvaadi' went on to lift Jagadeesh's career," Thampi added.
