mock-poll

NEW DELHI: The election commission denied the news of the BJP getting extra votes during the mock poll in Kasargod. They said that the incident was a technical glitch. The election commission informed the Supreme Court that the issue was resolved immediately. The news that the BJP got extra votes during the Kasaragod mock poll is false. Such an incident has not occurred. The election commission also said that the returning officer has given a report in this regard. The commission also said that a detailed report will be submitted soon.

However, UDF agent Nazar alleged that the BJP got votes without polling in the first three rounds. Nazar's complaint said that while all the candidates were given one vote each, the BJP candidate got one more vote in VVPAT. He had lodged a complaint with the assistant returning officer over the incident. The problem was solved in the last round. The assistant returning officer responded that there are problems with the voting machine and that such irregularities should not occur on the polling day.

Senior counsel Prashant Bhushan informed the Supreme Court that during a mock poll in Kasargod, the voting machine recorded one extra vote for the BJP. The election commission's explanation was in response to this. The election commission told the Supreme Court that it has not yet found any discrepancy in the counting of VVPAT slips and has not yet found any difference in the four crore VVPATs. The Supreme Court is hearing a plea seeking complete counting of VVPAT slips.
