Tourism sector job opportunities surge in Gulf country: Thousands of vacancies this year

DUBAI: According to Julia Simpson, president of the World Travel and Tourism Council, the travel and tourism sector in the UAE, which significantly contributes to the economy is poised to create 23,500 jobs by 2024.

The WTTC predicts that this sector will account for 12 percent of the UAE's total GDP, which is 236 billion dirhams.

Simpson also forecasts that by 2034, the number of people employed in the travel and tourism sector in the UAE will reach 928,000 with an additional 95,000 jobs being created between 2024 and 2034.

She notes that the sector experienced robust growth last year, creating 41,000 jobs solidifying its position as one of the nine most important professions in the country. Simpson expressed optimism about the future of the tourism sector during a discussion with Gulf media, highlighting its resilience in rebounding from the Covid pandemic and its potential for further expansion.
