Four arrested over alleged voter impersonation

voting

KOZHIKODE: Four people were arrested in connection with impersonation during vote at home. Special Polling Officer KT Majnusha, Polling Officer CV Fehmida, Micro Observer PK Anees and BLO Harishkumar were arrested by Mavoor Police and later released on bail.

The charge is that due to the negligence of the officials, the house vote allotted to the voter under serial number 74 in the booth number 84 of the Kundamangalam constituency in the Kozhikode parliamentary constituency was cast by a different person. A case was registered under 134(1) of the Representation of the People Act on the basis of a complaint lodged by the LDF with District Collector Snehilkumar Singh. The collector had suspended the four people in the incident last day. Kodassery Janakiyamma (80) who is serial number 101, casted the vote of Payampurath Janakiyamma (91) with serial number 74 in Booth No. 84 of Kayalam Kodasserithazam of Peruvayal Panchayat.

Even after the booth level agent of LDF pointed out the mistake, the officials were not ready to correct it. Then a complaint was filed with the District Collector.
