‘That question disappointed me, investigation seen in films is nothing,’ says Joshiy

KOCHI: Director Joshiy congratulated the police after nabbing the thief, who stole gold and diamond jewellery worth one crore from his house in Panampilly Nagar. He revealed the response he got from the police when called them soon after the theft came to light.


Joshiy said that he did not reveal his identity when called the police. He just told them that there is a theft at a house in Panampilly Nagar. Hearing this, the police immediately asked him if it was in Puthenkurish. That question disappointed me. They gave me a number and asked me to call the nearest police station. I didn't call that number. Instead, called producer Anto Joseph and told him about the incident.


Joshiy said that he later witnessed rapid movements of the city police. The entire team, including the Commissioner and DCP, reached the spot immediately. ACP
P Rajkumar was in charge of coordinating it. The director said that when he saw the live action of the city police, realized that the investigation seen in films is nothing. Joshiy while talking to a media said that the investigation was done in such a way as to set an example for the society and the police force and the accused was nabbed through such hard work.


The theft at Joshiy's 'B' Street 'Abhilasham' house was on Saturday morning. The theft was carried out by Muhammad Irfan (34), known as 'Bihar Robinhood', a notorious thief.
The accused entered through the kitchen window and stole a diamond necklace worth Rs 25 lakh, 10 diamond earrings worth Rs 8 lakh, 10 rings, 10 gold necklaces, 10 bangles and 10 expensive watches from the two rooms which are upstairs. The Ernakulam South police came to know about the information at 6 am.


The thief was caught within 10 hours of receiving the complaint. Mohammad Irfan was arrested from Udupi in Karnataka. The jewellery was recovered from the car of the accused.
