LS polls: Distribution of polling materials begin, huge rush in centres across Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As the voters in the state get ready to vote on Friday, the distribution of polling materials has started from 8 am today. The employees who reached the various centres in the state brought the polling materials and returned to the booths. Voting machines were kept in strong rooms.

Centres where polling materials are distributed are experiencing huge rush since morning. The officials return after taking the materials and checking them properly. Meanwhile, action was taken against those who did not appear for duty. Officials on election duty also have the opportunity to cast vote through postal ballot.

194 candidates are in the fray in 20 constituencies in the state. The state has 25,231 polling booths and 2.77 crore voters. Voting will be held from 7 am to 6 pm tomorrow. The result will be announced on June 4.

The Election Commission also has a Voter Turnout App to quickly inform people about the voter turnout of the elections.

The polling percentage from the constituency will be available every two hours. Booth-wise information will also be available on the next day of polling. Election Commission has also set up an application called Poll to monitor the proceedings at the polling stations and update the polling status to the officials every hour. It can be observed by manager, presiding officer of polling booth, first polling officer, sectoral officer, CEO, RO and ARO.
