KANNUR: With Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Kannur unit of the CPM denouncing him for holding a meeting with BJP national leader Prakash Javadekar, senior CPM leader EP Jayarajan is likely to face disciplinary action. EP Jayarajan is likely to step down from the post of LDF convener before the party sacks him. He may also take a leave from the party.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, a politburo member of the CPM, denounced Jayarajan's lack of caution in the meeting with the BJP leader. The Kannur unit also fully supported the Chief Minister's opinion against EP Jayarajan, who was at the helm of the party leadership's movements during the period of sectarianism.
The leadership which comprises several Jayarajans, including EP, is known by the name 'Kannur lobby'. Later, allegations were levelled against EP Jayarajan from the very same Kannur. Pinarayi Vijayan, who had always protected EP during those times, has now criticized him in harsh language. MV Jayarajan responded yesterday by saying that the party's stand is the same as what the CM said as a politburo member. MV Jayarajan told the media that the Chief Minister's stand is considered the stand of the party leadership and that he is not ready to change even a sentence that the CM said.
None of the leaders in Kannur has been supporting EP Jayarajan right from the nepotism row. EP received another setback when the leaders upheld the allegation raised by P Jayarajan that EP had acquired illegal wealth under the guise of an Ayurvedic resort. Although the party had conducted an investigation into the matter, it did not take any action against EP. This is also being discussed in the wake of the new controversy.
Action in Central Committee
EP Jayarajan is also expecting an action against him for not informing the party about his meeting with the BJP leader. The Central Committee will take action against him based on the recommendation given by the State Committee and the PB.
