'They want to reintroduce beef consumption'; Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath attacks Congress manifesto

LUCKNOW: After PM Modi’s fierce takedown of the congress manifesto, now the baton has been passed to UP CM Yogi Adityanath who on Saturday, harshly went against the congress manifesto for the LS polls 2024. In a press conference held in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, Yogi alleged the Congress mindset of bringing back beef consumption in the country and asked voters to be vigilant on this.

“Hindus in India consider cow as sacred and refrain from eating beef. Meanwhile, an attempt is being made by Congress to bring back beef consumption in a bid to appease the minorities.” Said Yogi in a rally held in Uttar Pradesh on Friday.

A strict ban on cattle slaughter and cattle trafficking has been imposed in Uttar Pradesh. Those who violate the law will be punished with imprisonment of up to ten years and a fine of up to five lakhs. The law came into effect in 2020 and those found guilty are charged with non-bailable sections.

The first phase of Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh was held on April 19. The second phase also took place on April 26. The next elections will be held on May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1. The counting of votes is on June 4. In the second phase of elections held yesterday, only 54.85% of polling was recorded in eight constituencies of Uttar Pradesh.
