Minor boy arrested for assaulting railway employee, search continues for co-accused

KOLLAM: A minor boy has been arrested in connection with the assault and robbery of a railway employee from Kollam in Koodal Nagar, Tamil Nadu. The search has intensified for the co-accused teenager.

Rakhi, who is from Geethas, Kadavoor, Kollam and works as a chain manager in the railways, was assaulted. The incident occurred when the Dindigul Tirunelveli Express arrived at Tamil Nadu's Koodal Nagar around 3:30 pm on Monday. The train stopped to receive a signal. Two teenagers entered the empty goods yard where Rakhi was on duty and attempted to steal her bag. They followed her as she left with the bag. The teenagers stole two bags and also snatched her phone. Subsequently, one of them attacked her with a sickle, cutting her head. After striking her, they fled. The assistant loco pilot, who noticed Rakhi running on the track, immediately went to her aid and took her to the engine yard, where he administered first aid. Later, she was admitted to Madurai Railway Hospital.

Rakhi received four stitches on the front of her head and has a bruise on her back. She is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of Madurai Railway Hospital.

The accused admitted to the police that they committed the robbery in order to obtain money for buying alcohol.
